The Rocks

Took a walk around Adventure Valley on Monday. This area is on the side of the Summit closest to Camp A.

The activities included Low Gear (mountain biking), The Ropes (think High cope course of ropes and ladders in the tree canopy) and The Rocks ( climbing and rappelling).

Photo below is of The Rocks and the rock climbing walls. The cool thing was that they had traditional areas that required a "belayer" ( guy on ground holding the ropes) and the "climber."

On other walls they had a mechanical "auto-belayer."  These are devices that allow a scout to climb on his own. If he falls the device kicks in and slowly lets the scout down to the ground.

Not pictured were two large structures where scouts could jump off in sort of a free fall but the safety lines slowed their descent. On the other structure scouts could learn how to rappel down a wall ( think the classic Marine boot camp wall).
