New program offerings for Scouts

Jamboree has some firsts and some other "refined" activities.

BSA is piloting the use of pistols are re shooting sports area. They have 22
Caliber and also 9 millimeter.

I had a first hand experience with this today since I volunteered at the pistols and high caliber rifle range today.

It is very a very controlled environment. On the 20 lane pistol range, each lane had a trained instructor which meant one on one with the scout.

The scouts also went though several orientations to ensure they understood the operation of the range.

I know around 8 of our scouts were at The Barrels (shooting range) but I did not run across them.

Below is a picture of the ATV activity. I so not think any of our scouts are doing it.

The thing that impresses me about BSA now - they are opening up their eyes to the activities and understanding they can be fun AND safe at the same time. It should help keep the older scouts interested.
